  Born:  Belfast, 29th November 1898.

  Died:  Oxford, 22nd November 1963.

  Irish academic and writer, known for his Christian theology, and his allegorical children's books about the magical land of Narnia.

  After serving in the Somerset Light Infantry in France during the First World War, C. S. Lewis returned to England in 1918 to study at University College Oxford.

  From 1954 to 1963 he was professor of medieval and Renaissance English at Cambridge University.
